It’s another busy weekend for UK air shows and concerts combined with air shows while one of the biggest seaside air shows is already underway:
Now Until Sunday
Airbourne 2013 at the Eastbourne Seafront, East Sussex. One of the UK’s biggest and best seaside air shows includes a thrilling line up of the military’s latest jets, helicopters parachutists and displays from an aerobatics team plus the Red Arrows will be flying on all four days. Airbourne opens daily at 10 am through till 6 pm, except on Saturday and Sunday when there will be a live screening of Top Gun and the incredible fireworks display, respectively.
The Original Flying Proms at Old Warden, Bedfordshire. Now in its 16th successful year, the Flying Proms brings together unique vintage aircraft performing stunning aerial display sequences performed in time to the classical music played by the 50 piece national symphony orchestra plus there will be a spectacular firework finale. Tickets are available in advance until August 16th (midnight) with adult tickets priced at £31 and child tickets priced at £16.
A Musical Salute to the ‘Few’ at Biggin Hill, Kent. The Central Band of the RAF will take centre stage for this concert that will relive and commemorate the events of the summer of 1940. The performance will be supported by the Spitfires and Hurricanes of the BHHH and the RAF BBMF along with active film, special effects and narration by TV actor and keen aviator Martin Shaw. The Whole Weekend
Combined Ops – The Military Show and Vintage Aircraft Weekend at Headcorn, Kent. Another exciting military weekend will include classic aircraft at the historic World War Two Advanced Landing Ground of the Lashenden Airfield, now operated as the Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent. Wings & Wheels at Dunkeswell, Devon. A fly-in of light aircraft and a classic car show organized by the South West Airfields Heritage Trust and the Devon Strut will include a WW2 battle re-enactment, military vehicles and vintage and classic vehicle displays, plus aircraft will include a WWII Catalina along with parachute drops. There will also be lots of other activities along with musical entertainment. Actor Mark Lawrence is coming to the event again to present the Trust with a framed poster that was presented to the cast members of Band of Brothers that has been signed by the cast and veterans including Dick Winters, Stephen Spielberg and Tom Hanks.
Gate prices are as follows: Family tickets are £20 per couple plus children under 12; 13 to 16 years old children accompanied by an adult are £5; Adults are £10; Seniors (OAP) are £5; and any WW2 Veterans and their caregivers (if applicable) are free.
The de Havilland Moth Club International Moth Rally at Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire. The de Havilland Moth Club International Tiger Moth Rally is returning to its spiritual home of Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire after a five-year absence. The August 2013 event promises to be bigger and better than ever with Tiger Moths, other de Havilland types and invited vintage aircraft operating from a specially prepared grass strip in the Deer Park at Woburn Abbey that was once part of a wartime runway used by Stirling and Lancaster bombers. Tickets are available at the gate for £10 per person Saturday, £15 per person Sunday and accompanied children under 16 are admitted free.
