New Reality TV Show About General Aviation. FourPoints Television, the producers of “The Aviators,” has signed on Vince Neil, the lead singer of the rock band Mötley Crüe, for a new reality TV series based on his exploits as a newly-certified pilot. The “Vince Neil Escapes” will follow Neil as he finalizes his pilot’s license for which flight training occurred on-camera during season three of the PBS aviation program. GA Pilot Saves $2,550 a Year With Mogas. General Aviation News has an article about Mark Wiley of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, a pilot who flies a 1963 Piper PA-28-235 Cherokee, about his efforts to lower flying costs by using mogas. Mark estimates that on an annualized basis flying 120 hours, he is saving around $2,550 a year.
Aviation Gets Ready for the Super Bowl. General Aviation News has also reported that aviation is already gearing up for the Super Bowl XLVII (as in American Football) as pilots, air traffic control officials and airport operators in and around New Orleans expect plenty of activity from January 31 to February 4. The FAA has also issued a notice detailing the special procedures that will be in effect.

Where2 Interactive has launched SocialFlight 2.0, an enhanced version of their free mobile app that provides pilots with an interactive map of thousands of aviation events along with the ability to share those events with friends. Already, the app has membership surpassing 10,000 users along with a database covering over 3,000 aviation events for this year alone. TV News Anchors Duped By a Fake Plane Crash for a TV Show. Finally and on an odd note, a pair of morning TV news anchors were scrambling to report on helicopter footage of a plane crash on an important street in Chicago. A few minutes later, the WGN-TV anchors learned that the apparent wreckage was staged for the NBC series Chicago Fire. The Chicago Fire Department then tweeted that crash had been been staged by WGN-TV’s prime-time rivals over at NBC while later in the show, the WGN Morning News began running “breaking” clips from Godzilla.
