Briefing approach plates video

by John on November 5, 2009

IFR flying can be stressful for both new and experienced pilots. Hence, Jason Schappert has recently created and posted a short six minute but extremely useful video about briefing approach plates on his MzeroO blog. Jason first explains each of the important sections of an approach plate (the heading, plan view,  airport sketch and landing minimums) and then he breaks each section down into more detail while noting what information tends to confuse student pilots and what information pilots need to pay particular attention to. The short video is well worth watching by both student pilots as well as experienced pilots who may not be regular fliers.
