Summer may be over soon, but there is another exciting weekend of air shows and aviation events around the UK for pilots and the whole family with the best part being that most of these events are free:
Today to Sunday
Bournemouth Air Festival at the Bournemouth Seafront, Dorset. Expect strong RAF Support alongside some airshow favorites from the civilian world at this free four day seafront air show – considered one of Britain’s premier seaside airshows. There will also be some special “night air” flying displays while the official website along with livestream.com offers live streaming of all the activities.
Today to Saturday
Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta in Devon. The 2013 Royal Regatta is naturally focused on rowing and sailing events, but it will also include air displays (e.g. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Red Arrows), fireworks, a large fair and many other smaller events in and around the town centre. Click here for the full schedule.
The Whole Weekend
Rhyl Air Show in Rhyl, Denbighshire, North Wales. One of North Wales’ biggest seaside events, there will be a varied mix of RAF, Warbirds and civilian displays at this year’s Rhyl Air Show. The best part is its also free to attend.
Northern Ireland International Airshow in Portrush, Coleriaine, Northern Ireland. Another free seaside air show with an impressive line-up of military and civilian display acts (e.g five jet displays and a total of 25 aircraft displays that will include the oldest flying Hawker Hunter, the de Havilland Vampire, Jet Provost and the Red Arrows) plus ground attractions. There will also be a very special commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic involving a very rare Catalina flying boat.
Shoreham Airshow 2013 at the Shoreham Airport, West Sussex. The annual Royal Air Forces Association air show is considered to be one of the best air shows in the country with it’s unique “Battle of Britain Scramble” plus strong support from the Royal Air Force with Lancing College as a stunning backdrop. Gates open at 8:30 AM with the flying displays scheduled for 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and 1.15 pm to 5.45 pm on both days. Click here for ticket prices and information.
LAA Rally at the Sywell Aerdrome, Northamptonshire. Last year saw the return of the popular Homebuilders Centre, where part built projects, Engineering department personnel, tutors in a range of aircraft build techniques and much more was on display. Click here for entrance fees.
