More rogue waypoints

by Matthew Stibbe on March 12, 2009

The latest from Flight International: BEENO, DANDI, TOPPA. GINIS on route to Dublin.  For TV sitcom fans: DELBO and RODNI.

For Looney Tunes, there’s a routeing in Australia – ZZ929 from Townsvill to Mt Gordon: TL ITORT EYSAW APUSS ECATT DCT.

On the approach to Newark Airport in New Jersey: HOWYA DOOIN.  Louisiana has RYTHM, Kentucky has BRBON, Kansas City has SPICY BARBQ RIBBS, Montpelier, VT has HAMM, BURGR and FRYYS.

Apparently, there is a BUXOM and JUGGS in the US but revealing their true obsession there is also: GOALL, PPUNT, DRPPD, FTBAL, COACH, QTRBK, TAKKL, RECVR, FMBLE and TCHDN.

Matthew, I’m sure that with your interest for French culture you’ll love that list of intersections made out of French names. Do you know some in Dutch ?

I don’t know any in Dutch that are particularly funny but I’ll have a look at the chart. Oddly, though, there are a couple that sound like nicknames of friends of mine. They think it’s funny and that I’m making up the waypoints to humour them!

Would have been a long way round through Scottish, Norwegian, Dutch and English airspace.

Some years ago , when that airspace was being restructured a series of WPs ran BETTY BITES BIGGA BOLOX. Didn’t make it into real life though

Those are great! Thanks for sharing. Beeno etc. brings back happy memories of childhood. Does Desparate Dan still exist, I wonder?
