Oral, practical and written exams

by John on June 18, 2009

For any one still learning to fly, Perry Reed has posted detailed entry on Finally Learning to Fly recounting his oral exam and checkride that he just took earlier this week. As he remembers, his oral exam went fairly well except that he completely missed one question concerning airspace clearances but according to the examiner, everyone misses that question. On the other hand, he states that his landings and soft field take-off were fairly poor but not poor enough for the examiner to fail him.

Meanwhile, Evan Krueger of Let’s Go Flying has posted an entry about his preparation for taking and then his actually taking of the written test that is necessary to become a private pilot. To make the long story short, he passed the test with a score of 90% and he will be eligible to take the practical exam no sooner that September 5 (which, we assume, is his birthday as he is only 16 years old). His still need several hours of simulated instrument time, solo time, test preparation and night time before he can obtain a private license.

Both entries by Perry and Evan are well worth reading by student pilots preparing for their exams and we wish the two of them the best of luck as future private pilots.
