Pet Airways: A pet airline

by John on April 24, 2009

Pet Airways Inspired by the inherent difficulties of arranging safe and convenient airline travel for pets, Pet Airways is the first airline dedicated to flying pets only. Utilizing a Beech 1900 that could otherwise carry 19 human passengers, “pawsengers” are placed in their private pet carriers and are secured using the airline’s proprietary restraint system. Once in the air, pet attendants monitor and check the comfort of all “pawsengers” every 15 minutes during the flight while pet owners can check the status of their pet’s flight online. Introductory fares from New York to Chicago or Los Angeles and Chicago to Los Angeles start at US$149 one way and the airline has plans to gradually expand to more cities within the USA.

Meanwhile, for those of you who will not be needing to transport a pet across the USA, their website and website blog lists great travel tips for pet owners who need to fly with their pets or transport one on an airline.
