Plenty of UK air shows or fly-ins this weekend

As summer heats up, there is no shortage of airshows or fly-ins scheduled for this weekend with the following worth noting if you don’t already have plans:

Saturday

redarrows_graphicsstock_mediumWeston Air Day at Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. The Red Arrows display team is scheduled (5:30 PM) to fly their famous diamond nine formation in their Hawk trainers at Saturday’s Weston Air Day. The show will also feature aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the Falcons parachute team and several other aerobatic displays from noon and up to the Red Arrows performance. South East Airshow at the Kent International Airport, Manston, Kent. After a long hiatus, AS Enterprises  and Heritage Events has brought the South East Airshow to Manston where an array of aircraft from the armed services, including the Vulcan Bomber, as well as civilian displays. In addition, there will be a funfair, craft fair and a display arena showcasing the best of Thanet and Kent.

Saturday and Sunday

Old Buckenham Airshow at Old Buckenham, Norfolk. Considered South Norfolk’s most popular airshow, there will also be classic cars, military vehicles, live bands and a funfair along with plenty of aircraft. Do note that once the organizers fill the car park, they can’t accept any more people in – meaning you might want to get there by 10 AM each day to avoid disappointment

Air Britain Vintage & Classic Aircraft Fly-In at North Weald, Essex. Air-Britain’s Fly-In calls itself the longest established UK Fly-In organized independently by and for aviation enthusiasts. The fly-in aims to bring together aviation enthusiasts, historians, pilots and anyone interested in aviation to appreciate, photograph and speak with aircraft operators.

Sunday

Whitehaven Festival Airshow at Whitehaven, Cumbria. The three day town festival will conclude on Sunday with a small flying display along the seafront.

PictureKirkbride Airfield Open Day and Fly-In at Kirkbride, Cumbria. Sunday’s fly-in will feature flying displays by modern and historic aircraft along with a large turn out of light aircraft (weather permitting).

So there are no excuses for any aviation buff or pilot to stay home this weekend!
