LE TOUQUET TRANSPONDER REQUIREMENT FROM 16 MARCH 2006

Jean Jacques Fromentin of Le Touquet airport management has informed a group at Popham that:

Le Touquet zone is upgraded from Class E airspace to Class D from mid-March
Effective 16 March it is compulsory for aircraft visiting Le Touquet to have a ModeC  transponder.

BUT – for the next 6 months the airport will not have a radar to see transponder signals with

SO – during these 6 months a non transponder-equipment aircraft may request, when close to Le Touquet, to enter the zone and this will be accepted by the controllers.

ONLY a worry if you don’t have a ModeC transponder!
