In case you are not accustomed to soft or short field takeoffs and landings, here are two excellent and short videos (a Part I and a Part II) that were posted on Youtube.com and were created by King Schools – a leading producer of aviation and pilot training videos along with test preparation software. Although both were filmed in the deserts of California, they are well worth watching by any pilot who may find themselves using a grass runway in the UK or elsewhere. Moreover and as the narrator states, learning soft and short field takeoff and landing procedures will also open up a “whole world of exciting places to go that aren’t served by international airports.”
