Here is an amazing story picked up by the blogger behind the BizzyBlog. An 83 year pilot named Ralph Squeglia, who has been flying since 1944, was flying a homebuilt single-engine Hummelbird plane when he began experiencing engine trouble. He ended up making an emergency landing on a busy South Florida expressway and clipped a light pole before coming to a halt on the side the road and uninjured in the incident. A Florida state trooper arrived on the scene and said that he would not be cited for any traffic violations but the FAA has yet to comment and there is no word on what caused the engine trouble in the first place.
Either way, we are glad to hear that no one was injured in the incident and we hope that Ralph is soon back in the pilot’s seat.
