A day in the life of air traffic…

Hat tip to All things Aviation for posting these two really cool and interesting time lapsed videos – one showing the world’s air traffic and the other showing Fedex’s traffic over the USA. In the first video, aircraft leave the US in the evening to head towards Europe and then later in the morning, the flow reverses:

The second video illustrates the activity of Fedex which has Memphis as its key hub:

Finally, this third video illustrates air traffic over the US during a 24 hour period and you can clearly see redeye cross country flights along with where major airport hubs are plus where airspace is restricted to military aircraft (e.g. Area 54). The final half of the video also show what happens when weather starts to interfere and disrupt air traffic patterns:
