Warbird heaven at the Flying Legends Air Show

The 2012 Flying Legends Air Show was held at Duxford Airfield in Cambridgeshire, UK last weekend and an article in the Daily Mail has number of fantastic pictures of “warbirds” for aviation buffs. What makes the air show so special is that the display features only propeller-engined warplanes from both world wars as well as beyond. Just some of the historic aircraft that performed included Spitfires, a P-38 Lightning, a Flying Fortress, a P47 Thunderbolt Snafu, Hawker Sea Fury, a Junkers JU52 and a Sirkosky S-38 seaplane

Youtube also has this cool trailer for the 2012 airshow set to the music “Asteroid” by Terry Devine-King and Nick Ingman with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra:

I should note that a quick search on Youtube for “Flying Legends air show” will produce a number of great videos from previous years – including this 22 minute long video from last year:

However and to really put you in the mood for the era, this 9 minute video is set to some great Glenn Miller music!:

Otherwise and if you missed this year’s Flying Legends Air Show, the next one will be held on the weekend of July 13-14, 2013.
