When all passengers were first class

With discount airline RyanAir eliminating ticket counters and its CEO suggesting that passengers may soon have to pay to use the toilet on board, this 1933 American Airways promotional film, complete with cheeky 1930s humor, will take you back to the way air travel once was. In those days, passengers booked reservations at American Airways ticket offices where they found a:

Friendly kind of service, service with a smile. Here you will get accurate information promptly and cheerfully from a highly trained and efficient personnel…

Likewise, passengers could also book a reservation at Western Union offices, post offices, and travel bureaus or via hotel porters, over the telephone or from American Airways limousine drivers who took passengers to the airport in style. Once onboard (in this case, a twin engine Curtiss Condor):

You sit down in the soft roomy seats that are built for comfort. The stewardess will adjust them to suit you. All seats are first class seats. All passengers are first class passengers…

And there were no coin operated toilets on board…
